Little Miss Madelyn Mae was anxious to enter the world, arriving 1 month early! Weighing in just over 4lbs she was 13 days new here in her newborn photo session. I was excited to photograph her since I had also photographed her big sister 4 years ago!
When I photograph newborn babies I like to mix natural portraits, or babies in their natural state with neutral colors and no posing in with the more artistic photographs with advanced posing and props. This gives new moms the best of both worlds, beautiful newborn photos of their new addition and art pieces that are intended to be blown up into oversized wall hangings. Here are a few of my favorites. 🙂
The tiniest baby I have ever photographed, for perspective – her nose is the size of the tip of my pinky finger! Perfect little preemie!
Because the tiny baby toes are always my favorite! I always have to get a shot of them.
She loves her hands on her face, I’m guessing she spent a lot of time this way in the womb!
I’ve been wanting to do this set up for a while, but most newborn babies are too big to safely pose on this antique chair.. she fit just perfectly.

And an ode to fall with some seasonal colors, sometimes you need to step away from pink to create images just as beautiful for this newborn baby girl. I’ve had this set up planned for a while and again, she was perfect for it! Can’t you picture this as an over sized canvas hanging in the family home? Swoon!
