As a Wells Maine wedding photographer, some stories stay with me long after I deliver the gallery. Margaret and Tommy’s wedding day was one of them. Their Wells Maine wedding was more than a coastal celebration — it marked the start of a marriage years in the making.
High school sweethearts, they stayed committed through long distance and Tommy’s deployment overseas with the U.S. Air Force. Their wedding day meant they could finally build their life side by side.
A Love That Endured the Distance
Margaret and Tommy met in the hallways of their high school. Young love grew into a steady, enduring partnership. During Tommy’s time overseas, they navigated seasons of distance before reuniting for their wedding day in Wells.
Photographing their wedding felt like documenting the end of one chapter and the start of another. Every glance reflected years of commitment and the excitement of planning their future together.
Before the ceremony, they chose to share a private first look. They exchanged personal vows during that quiet moment together. It gave them space to slow down, breathe, and fully take in the significance of the day before walking down the aisle.
A Timeless Ceremony at the Historical Society of Wells and Ogunquit
Margaret and Tommy exchanged vows at the Historic 1862 Meetinghouse at the Historical Society of Wells and Ogunquit. This light-filled New England venue photographs beautifully in every season. The historic architecture and tall windows created an intimate setting for their heartfelt ceremony.
I love venues like this. They offer character, warmth, and beautiful natural light. The wooden floors and historic details add depth to every image while keeping the focus on the couple.
When Margaret walked down the aisle, Tommy’s expression said everything. I always watch for those real, unfiltered reactions. They tell your story better than any pose ever could.
A Celebration at Wild Bevy Distilling
After the ceremony, guests gathered at Wild Bevy Distilling in Wells for a relaxed reception. The tasting room created an intimate setting that felt personal and welcoming.
Guests enjoyed handcrafted cocktails and Italian cuisine from Anthony’s Food Shop in York, Maine. Heartfelt toasts filled the room. Laughter carried across the dance floor well into the night.
These are the moments I focus on as a Wells Maine wedding photographer — the tight hugs, proud parent glances, and spontaneous laughter. Years from now, those are the memories that matter most.
